For the first two weeks of May, White Rock RCMP Community Policing Volunteers have been assisting
in the training of Kindergarten aged children at both Peace Arch and White Rock Elementary schools.
Using a fantastic new visual package, White Rock Volunteers with the assistance of Cst. Shoihet and Julia Everett of the Community Policing section have been training kids the ins and outs of bike safety.

Children's bikes and helmets are first inspected to ensure that they meet safety regulations. Then the kids are given a brief safety lecture, before they get the opportunity to go on the course. The course uses large graphic signs to simulate actual obstacles they would find in their community. The students practice using hand signals, and procedures to keep themselves safe.
The response to this training has been overwhelmingly positive from kids, parents and teachers.
We are proud to offer this fantastic experience for White Rock students. We invite everyone to see this training in action at our upcoming open house on Saturday June 12, 2010.
If you are interested in having our volunteers come to train your White Rock or South Surrey based youth group, please contact your community policing office in White Rock at 778-593-3611 or South Surrey at 604-599-7810.
